Changes at the top of the Yeti Farm
Yeti Farm Creative is ready to grow and has therefore made some changes at the top of its organization.
The Kelowna-based animation studio has moved partner Jay Surridge to become Chief Creative Officer and has hired Stephanie Marcotte as an international recruiter to manage talent acquisition.
“Jay has done an amazing job with Yeti’s creative and production teams, and I know he will thrive in this broader role,” said Ashley Ramsay, founder and CEO of Yeti Farm, in a press release. “Our new studio space in downtown Kelowna is the perfect place to house our permanent group of story and development artists, and I’m excited to announce more about our originals in the coming months.”
Yeti Farm Creative is the studio behind Sweet Tweets and has also produced animation hits such as Hotel Transylvania and Pete the Cat. The studio also recently signed two development deals with executive producer Irene Weibel (Moon and Me, Bravest Warriors) for two computer graphics projects – one by Michael Bruza (Outlandish, SciGirls) and the other with The Mother Company (Ruby’s Studio).
It also did the work on Summer Memories, which debuts this summer. It is a 2D animated comedy that follows 11-year-old Jason as he romanticizes the most pivotal summer of his life.
“We’ve built a great core group of artists and producers over the years for shows like Pete the Cat with creator Jeff ‘Swampy’ Marsh, our own Sweet Tweets and the upcoming Summer Memories,” said Surridge. “Over the last few years, Yeti has found ways to evolve naturally into the industry’s new hybrid production world, allowing us to collaborate more efficiently as a studio across all departments and play a greater role in productions at all levels. We had a creative booster shot.
“I look forward to working with Stephanie to further build the artist team for these and other exciting new shows, including a 3D series that Irene brought us, which we are developing with Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana Studios, as well as the comedy- series Alpha Betas , which includes the best YouTube creators in the lead.”
