Thousands of fans in downtown Toronto were disappointed Friday night after the nationwide outage of the Rogers service postponed The Weeknd’s concert at Rogers Center.
Fans lined up to see the Toronto-born singer-songwriter perform on his After Hours Till Dawn Tour. They were notified just 30 minutes before the show was to start.
Concert organizers confirmed through the public address system that the concert had been cancelled. A large crowd of fans remained in Rogers Center, with some who cheered as the announcement was made.
In a statement, Rogers Center apologized to fans for the inconvenience.
“We are sorry to announce that The Weeknd’s tour stop at Rogers Center has been postponed to a later date due to service disruptions affecting the venue’s operations,” the statement read.
“Information about a new show date will be shared as soon as possible.”
Rogers Center said tickets for the new date will be honored.
Quite a bit of booing when they announce the cancellation is because of service outages. (For the record, I didn’t queue for the concert.. was sidelined by the crowd leaving the area 🙂 pic.twitter.com/LpV1Mc0oeT< /a>
