The QRL announced Saturday morning that PCR swabs have confirmed that both Cameron Munster and Murray Taulagi have COVID-19 and will miss Wednesday’s Origin decision. The pair had returned positive Rapid Antigen Tests earlier Friday and had been isolated from the rest of the squad. Broncos Winger Corey Oates and Cowboys playmaker Tom Dearden will both be competing in the Maroons 17, with the final lineup yet to be confirmed.

Team doctor Matt Hislop said on Wednesday that Kalyn Ponga (concussion) had passed all protocols for returning to the game and would take his place at the fullback.

Cowboys teen Jeremiah Nanai is set to make his start in Origin as he replaces Felise Kaufusi (personal) with club teammate Tom Gilbert who takes the bench for his debut.

Jordan McLean is out on Thursday due to a hamstring injury. Knights prop Jacob Saifiti will instead join the 17-man squad in the place of McLean after he was named to the reserves earlier this week. Sharks skipper Dale Finucane was added to the expanded roster on Friday.

Nicho Hynes was originally listed as the 19th man, but has since tested positive for COVID and will remain in isolation for the game. Jack Wighton will be the 18th man after the Blues chose to keep Stephen Crichton and Matt Burton in the centers.

Eels skipper Clint Gutherson, Knights prop Jacob Saifiti and Cowboys whore Reece Robson remain part of the expanded squad after Hynes retired. Chad Townsend also joined the Blues camp on Thursday as a cover for Hynes.
