Kimberly opened up about her future on Corrie in an Instagram Q&A, saying her storyline was “now complete”.

It came after a follower asked her, “Why are you leaving Corrie.”

She explained: “Okkkk let’s get this answered because it’s heavy in the inbox.

“So it’s not a matter of leaving Corrie. It’s more like I came back for a storyline that’s wrapped up for now.

“If you watched Friday’s eps you’ll see there wasn’t a big departure scene so you never know for the future, but what I do know is this…

“I owe so much to Corrie and I love it there – the people – the atmosphere – the street.

“Life happens in chapters – and I’m looking forward to the next part.”

Kimberly’s character Nicky first appeared on Coronation Street in June 2020 as a love interest to Daniel Osbourne.

She spoke of her joy to be cast, saying, “I like other soap operas and other TV shows, but it’s just in my blood.

“If you broke me in half, I’d say Corrie, no doubt. What they’re doing in that program for women is just incredible.”

In October 2020, it was announced that she had made her final appearance as Nicky, but in December 2021, she announced that she would be returning in 2022.

Kimberly has previously said that her portrait of an escort is so compelling that people have approached her on the street.

She told The Sun earlier this month: “People have definitely confused my character with me. Men find it very funny to approach me and say, ‘How much?’

“I’m on dating apps and it shows up there too. I just unlink them right away.

“But I’m really happy that charities and sex workers have reached out to me to say they like the way Nicky is portrayed because she’s so realistic and the writers didn’t give her a drug or drinking problem.

“She’s just a feisty mom doing it for her daughter – to survive. I’m so proud to play her.”
