- Indian women’s hockey team head coach Janneke Schopman and goalkeeper Savita Punia have expressed their dismay at the referee’s decision to let Australia retake their first shot in the shoot-out after being saved, in the Commonwealth semi-final clash Games here.
- India goalkeeper Savita had saved Ambrosia Malone’s shot, but the umpires soon intervened and asked for a retake as the timer malfunctioned and failed to start.
- Australia took the shot again and this time they scored and won the shootout 3-0, ending an impressive comeback for the Indian team who had been trailing 0-1 for much of the game before coming back to equalize and in the fourth quarter.
